Santa Fe received a federal grant and one of its requirements is that they acknowledge the funding source and provide other details about the grant to their users. They have been doing this since last November by entering local data in 590, 536, and 540 fields, using subfield 5 to control display in the discovery tool. Santa Fe uses Mango. They contacted FLVC last week because they realized that their local information was being overwritten during the overlay process because these fields are not protected.
Historically, the bib records for the college have not contained local information. There are several sections in the databases guidelines briefly describing this. One aspect of the discussion is how the other colleges feel or what they think about local information being in the bib records in a shared database.
